Values

  • Recycled Parquet– Table tops made from salvaged, historical wood.
  • Handmade– Each piece is individually crafted in our own workshop.
  • Second Life– Discarded flooring becomes durable furniture.
  • Character– Each table bears the marks of its original floor.

Our Favourites:

Fisch & Tisch understands craftsmanship not just as a technique, but as an attitude.

Tables are created from salvaged parquet floors, telling a second story. What began in 2022 with a single herringbone floor in an Art Nouveau villa near Jena is now craftsmanship with a history: gymnasiums, historic buildings, and old houses don't give up their wood, but pass it on to new hands. In our own workshop, each plank is planed, sanded, and oiled until its original grain becomes visible again.

Wood that is not destined for disposal, but for a second life.

Fisch & Tisch views tables not just as furniture, but as meeting places.

Beyond individual orders, tables and counter tops are created for places where people gather – for example, for Café Pottblümchen in the Hagen Museum Quarter or as part of Fabrikat89, a curated exhibition on Cologne's Ehrenstraße. This concept is further developed with the in-house format Fisch & Tisch Dinner: At changing locations, meals are eaten at the very tables that were previously created in the workshop.

Details

How does the ordering process work?

Customers specify the shape, laying pattern, size, and grip material, or leave individual points open. Fisch & Tisch will get in touch, clarify the details personally, and create an offer; after approval, production begins in the workshop.

How big should my table be?

As a guideline, allow about 60 cm width and at least 40 cm depth per person. For round tables, 90 cm diameter seats 4 people, 120 cm is recommended for 6 people or more, and 150 cm for 8 people or more.

Where does the parquet come from?

The parquet flooring comes from various sources such as old gymnasiums, historic buildings or Art Nouveau villas. Available stock changes regularly; a current overview will be sent upon request.

How are the tables delivered?

Fisch & Tisch prefers to deliver in person and set up the table on site. If this is not possible, freight forwarders will handle the transport; the careful packaging allows for assembly without drilling or complicated installation.

Fish & Tisch – Dining tables made from recycled parquet flooring

Fisch & Tisch handcrafts dining tables from reclaimed parquet flooring. The workshop in Asslar transforms discarded floorboards – for example, from gymnasiums, historic buildings, or Art Nouveau villas – into tabletops in rectangular, round, oval, or freeform shapes. The laying pattern and grain come from the original floor, ensuring that each table remains unique. The shape, size, laying pattern, oil finish, and base are individually agreed upon with the customers before production begins in the workshop. In addition to individual furniture pieces, tables and bar tops are also created for restaurant and exhibition projects, as well as their own dinner events. Prices for dining tables start at 2,000 euros including VAT, with delivery and assembly preferably carried out personally on site.
